True Monsters

Monsters can be made in many a way. You cam take your nightmares, embellish and tweak them, on the grounds that if it scares you, it should scare others too. You can draw on popular culture, myth and folklore, using a vast array of archetypes which you can mix and match to make a monster your own. That, however, is too easy. Your challenge is to create and either describe like a nature documentary or write a short story about an _utterly_ new and different monster/monsters. Sound fun? The winner will be decided on a combination of how scary and how original I believe the monster to be. I will also give honurable mention to the scariest and most original monsters. And, most importantly, have fun! Thanks.
