Untitled Poem #2

Author: Ariah Oak

Our hair ends up everywhere, and one of these days, I'm sure I'll find out why (Aging, perhaps?). It's like a little reminder of our time together. You left your long strands atop my pillow case from the time we lay entwined and listened intently as Steely Dan put a spell upon our weary souls. Our eyes drooped but our hands found one another in the midst of sleepy confusion and soft brass in the background. You planted a single kiss on my forehead, and all that's left to prove you were ever here is our hair left discarded on my (since undisturbed) pillow.

And even now, months after you've departed, I still find remnants of you everywhere.
